Remembering a Fallen Soldier for Christ

Remembering a Fallen Soldier for Christ

Dearly beloved brethren of AIM,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you all of the passing of one of our own, a dedicated and courageous young man, Pastor Jeffrey Munsad Mamayo, 35, of Kitbog, Malungon, Sarangani Province, Southern Mindanao. On the evening of May 8, 2024, our brother Jeffrey was shot multiple times and died of his injuries at the church he pastored. The police will be bringing murder charges against the assailants.

Brother Jeffrey leaves behind a young family of three children, Princess Jeyramie, 12, Vic Queeniamie, 10, Jeffrey Jr., 2, and his pregnant wife, Mylene, due to give birth in August.

We are conducting nightly vigils and his funeral and burial are planned for May 19th.

When Brother Jeffrey came to us two years ago and informed us that he would start a church and preach in Sitio Kitbog, he knew it was one of the most dangerous places in that province. But he also knew God really called him there to preach the gospel of Act 2:38, and there were no Oneness holiness churches there. With the help of God, we were able to buy a parcel of land and build an AIM church, and thanks to God using Brother Jeffrey’s ministry, there are many people who have received the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As Brother Jeffrey and his family continued to live and work in Sitio Kitbog under difficult events and threats of violence against the servant of God, he repeatedly told his wife, “Strengthen your faith in the Lord. I will not leave the church and if I die, I want to die in the church of the Lord.”

Brother Jeffrey was born on February 2, 1989 in Glan, Sarangani province, the third child to Lucia and Emly Mamayo (deceased). He and his siblings Rolly, Cherlie, and Bernie Mamayo were raised in Barangay Rubber, Polomolok, South Cotabato. He was taught as a child to believe that there is only one Lord, and his family worshipped in the United Pentecostal Church (UPC). When he was a child, he was fond of singing to the Lord and sharing the Word of God. His family came out of the UPC, but after the conversion of Pastor Jeffrey to AIM, his family became End Time Message Believers, and it is sad to say that he is the only one among his family who stood for the Oneness Apostolic doctrine.

In 2003, Brother Jeffrey came to our Polomolok church, led by Pastor Albert Supilanas who baptized him and taught him the Word of the Lord. He was then an active member of that church and in 2017 he enrolled in our AIM Bible school near General Santos City. After graduating from Bible School and receiving his license, Pastor Jeffrey started preaching at Polomolok Church. It was here that Jeffrey and Mylene met at the church, fell in love, and were married on March 28, 2011.

We don’t know what God’s plan is for all of us. Nobody—not even his wife—expected this to happen to the Lord’s servant, for early in the morning he made his family laugh, even planned his wife’s birth, and took their three kids to the neighborhood park without realizing it would be their last time spending time together. Even as I heard him as our speaker during our recent Inter-Church Fellowship on April 28, I had no idea of how soon his journey would be finished. But his words still resonate with me. He continually said, “love, respect, and help your pastors and the church of the Lord.” We don’t know what God’s plan is for all of these occurrences, but I know He has a reason for allowing them to happen. Though it’s painful to think about, we must trust our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Please join us in ongoing prayer to help bear the burden of grief of Bro. Jeffrey’ wife and young children, in Jesus’s name.

Respectfully submitted,

Reynaldo Munez, AIM District Leader, Southern Mindanao
